Matthew 5:8 says, "Blessed are those who are pure in heart, for they will see God."
Remember, purity starts with your heart. As long as your mind is anchored on things above & your heart is undeniably set out for God, your actions will follow. Sure, we are all human, we are going to make mistakes & sin is natural. That is where grace comes into the picture! However, the common misconception of grace is that, "I can live however I want & just keep asking for forgiveness." Jesus wants us to turn from this world & turn towards His word, then live accordingly! He never promised that it'll be easy, but He has promised that it'll be worth it. Blessing will come from constant obedience. Disobedience cripples you, often unknowingly. The choice is yours, it’s definitely hard & it will be an uncommon path, but the reward will be oh so worth the wait. Forced discipline, creates natural habit. I like to think of purity as a pearl... A pearl is created over a period time with an extensive process. It begins its journey as an unexpected & undesirable object, usually a piece of broken shell or a parasite. It is then taken into the safety of an oyster’s soft inner body. As long as the pearl stays there, over time, layers begin to build up, making it into a pearl. There is pressure, seclusion, darkness & it can take from 30 days to seven years for it to form! Like our path of purity, no matter where you have come from, know that as long as you remain in the presence of Jesus, He is preparing you for something beautiful & worth the wait! You are forgiven & He makes you pure. There is nothing that you have been through, that is too messy for Him to use. Trust the process! Something I do to that helps me embrace the wait, is keep a journal to my future husband. It reminds me that everyday, I am writing a story that I will be proud to tell him one day! It’s filled with stories, prayers & so much more... It helps keep me faithful & accountable to him, even though I don’t know him yet. When you know you are approved by Christ, you can bare others disapproval. When you know God loves you, you can act in a way that you know is right, even when others might be living different or might not love you because of it. I'd like you to picture a triangle with me, you & your future spouse at the bottom two points & God as the top point. This is perfect imagery of what we should strive for when determining if the person we are with is the person God has intended for us to be with. As you grow closer to this person, it is bringing you closer to God? If so, awesome! Join hands & run after Him together along with wise counsel & prayer. If not, respect yourself & the other person enough to help write the story for the both of you, that you want to tell one day! Letting go could possibly be the best decision that you have ever made. Think of it as redirection rather than rejection. As bizarre as this may sound, you need a man/woman that is so connected to God, that he/she would rather displease you before she would displease Him. Let's be a generation that pursues purity, even in an impure world. Keep your heart & mind set on Jesus, take it one day at a time & I promise, it'll be oh so worth it!
